Myranda Mondry: TSheets Helps Recover Stolen Truck

by Michael Strickland

I love stories in which justice is served with a happy ending. And when it comes to stories from "great" companies, greatness, like, many objectives, is in the eye of the beholder. One simple test for greatness is how a company is experienced by its constituents – its customers, its associates, and the community-at-large.

A Boise-based blogger is rapidly producing such stories.

It’s a well-known fact that TSheets helps business owners save hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars each year, writes Myranda Mondry in a Dec. 16 blog on the TSheets website. She continues: "but did you know that TSheets has also saved an employee from wrongful conviction? Or that it’s saved a stolen smartphone from the hands of a thief?"
I have been following the work of TSheets CEO Matt Rissell, since being introduced to this emerging leader a few years ago. Did you hear the latest news? TSheets even saved a stolen truck.
According to the news report, the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen by 23-year-old Jide Frederick-Lloyd, a resident of Decatur, Georgia. Before he could get too far, he was located and arrested by Metter police.

Mondry continues, writing:

But here’s what the news report doesn’t tell you:

The truck was owned by an employee of Full Turn Services, a property maintenance and preservation company located in Savannah, Georgia. The employee had left the truck for a matter of seconds while he double checked that he had locked the door of the property he was leaving. Unfortunately, a matter of seconds was all it took for Frederick-Lloyd to hop behind the wheel.
When the employee realized what had happened, he immediately contacted the police and alerted them to the theft, but, by then, Frederick-Lloyd was nowhere to be found.
That’s when Emil Mrsic, owner of Full Term Services, remembered one very important detail: the employee had been tracking his time using TSheets at the time of the theft — and TSheets was tracking the phone’s location.
Mrsic signed in to his TSheets account, navigated to the Who’s Working window, and clicked on the employee’s location. From there, he (and the police) tracked the stolen vehicle’s location using TSheets.
The police caught the bandit nearly 60 miles away and recovered the employee’s stolen truck, and it’s all thanks to Mrsic’s quick thinking and TSheets’ accurate-to-the-second time and location tracking.

"Stolen vehicle recovery isn’t the only benefit of GPS location tracking within the workplace — studies show that employees appreciate the payroll accuracy, increased accountability, and sense of safety that comes with workplace GPS," TSheets says.

Who is Myranda Mondry?

Myranda is a reader, a writer, and a lover of the ‘80s. Her passion for the written word manifested itself during her time at Boise State University, where she majored in many things (including, but not limited to, Medieval Literature) and eventually graduated with a B.A. in Journalism. Since then, she has worked in editing, publishing, and marketing -- but the title “Badass Blogger” seems to fit her best.

What is TSheets?

TSheets ranks among my favorite companies. It is the #1 rated app in the Intuit ecosystem—with over 2,000 five-star customer reviews: Avoid Headaches With Accurate Time Tracking. Track timesheets from any location, using any device, in real time. No More Manual Work or Handwritten Time Cards. Review employee timesheets, and quickly approve them. One-Click QuickBooks Integration. Send approved employee timesheets to QuickBooks to save hours and thousands of dollars.

Stock Rising: Mitch Coats - Master Jiu Jitsu Athlete and Coach

The differences between a good coach and a great one may be subtle, but they can make a world of difference. Knowledge, ability to demonstrate drills and organizational skills are important. But traits like humility, compassion, effective communication, passion and advanced leadership separate the best from the rest.
In Boise, Idaho, one of the best has been emerging toward the highest levels in his field and across all channels. I first met Jiu Jitsu athlete and coach Mitch Coats while working for Troy McClain (of Donald Trump's Season One Apprentice fame) at his Boise office. McClain shares the same office building and trains with Coats.
"Success leaves tracks. So follow them." - Troy McClain (A Mitch Coats Jiu Jitsu student)
Here are some of the qualities I have noticed by being able to observe this master teacher since 2015:
Every coach wants to win, but not at the expense of skill development. Coats recognizes that it’s about his students, not the man behind the bench. He doesn't measure his success by his trophy case, but by the smiles on the participants faces, their improvement on the Jiu Jitsu mat and their passion for the martial arts.

Coats, who practices a unique form known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, takes the time to get to know his practitioners, on and off the mat. He makes the effort to listen, be understanding and treat participants with respect. He knows that their team is only as strong as its weakest individual and works hard to give every fighter the chance to improve.
What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit or give up. BJJ encourages free sparring against a live, resisting opponent (also know as “rolling”). Practitioners therefore have the opportunity to test and develop their skills under realistic conditions, while minimizing the risk of injury. SOURCE: combatfitness.com.
A coach can have all the technical knowledge in the world but if he can’t communicate and teach effectively, that brain power is useless. The clear communication that I have seen Coats demonstrate stems from realizing how each person learns. He crafts and tailors the information to reach each intended target. He knows how to deliver criticism and praise in a way that participants take to heart.
When a coach has a passion for the game and the team, it makes the experience a fruitful one. Coats' excitement for martial arts and for continuous improvement is contagious.
This true Jiu Jitsu master offers direction and motivation to help his team reach their goals. They have a plan, are organized and develop strategies to encourage each other.  They believe in themselves and work together. Coats leads an enthusiastic, excelling, growing team by personal example.
Stop by and meet Mitch Coats at The Base Training Center in Boise. And get ready for an experience that will change your life.
