Idaho Dance Theatre Launches its 25th Anniversary Season with the Fall Performance

Idaho Dance Theatre, Idaho's own professional contemporary dance company, launches its 25th Anniversary Season with the Fall Performance, Nov. 8-10 at Boise State University's Special Events Center.

The opening of this milestone season will include everything IDT has become renowned for -- from fresh, provocative and passionate choreography to brilliant, athletic dance and cinematic lighting. Featured choreographers will be Carl Rowe, Marla Hansen and Gonzalo Valdez.

Idaho Dance Theatre's mission is to create and perform superb contemporary dance that is personal, innovative, and exciting.
To realize this mission, the Idaho Dance Theatre strives to:

Employ dance artists of the highest caliber and offer a richly diverse repertory of exceptional artistry that inspires hearts and minds;

Produce performances with a total immersion in the experience of live dance using professional dancers, high production values, and frequent collaborations with a variety of artists;

Educate young people through our Education Outreach program by presenting a unique dance performance that educates, engages, and entertains children with a positive dance experience; and
Function as a community organization dedicated to supporting professionalism, innovation, and artistry in dance.

Each season Idaho Dance Theatre performs three repertory concerts in the Special Events Center on the campus of Boise State University.  These concerts showcase the work of its two artistic directors, Marla Hansen and Carl Rowe, as well as the choreography of talented guest artists.  We have initiated a yearly national choreography competition, New Visions, in which the selected artist presents the winning work on our company and receives a cash reward.  IDT frequently commissions new music and engages live musicians, poets, visual artists, and other collaborators.

In 2011 we created Focus Dance Ensemble, our pre-professional company.  The company will give young, dedicated dancers the opportunity to experience the training and rehearsal of a professional company with two season performances and the opportunity to work with Idaho Dance Theatre's professional dancers and artistic directors.

Idaho Dance Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, incorporated in July of 1990. Our mission is supported solely from donations from individuals, businesses and grants from a wide variety of state and local organizations.
